The island of Mauritius is a unique blend of European, Asian and African cultures. Oberoi Hotel has tremendous natural beauty along with luxurious atmosphere.  This hotel has an area of 20 acres of sub-tropical gardens. There is a 600-meter oceanfront. The hotel has villas along with swimming pools and luxury pavilions that provide panoramic views of the ocean.

 

Rooms and villas

There are four types of rooms and villas – luxury pavilion, luxury villa with private garden, luxury villa with private pool and royal villa with private pool. There are 72 thatched terrace pavilion rooms. These have DVD players, wooden slatted ceilings and neutral tones that result in a relaxed ambience. The rooms have a four-poster bed and a sunken bath in palest marble.

 

Dining

The restaurant at the Oberoi Hotel has a roof of palm-thatched timbers and provides a good view of the Indian Ocean. The guests can dine indoors amongst the pillars or outside under the stars. This island has a multicultural flavor and introduces fresh local vegetables, fruits and spices. European, Oriental and Creole dishes are served at this place. The ambience becomes heavenly due to the exotic flowers, lighted candles on the pool surface and the brilliant sunsets.


 

Spa

The spa at the Oberoi hotel can also provide a cool and relaxed atmosphere to the guests. There are state of the art facilities like a beauty parlor, swimming pool, individual spa suites with private plunge pools, sauna, gym and steam bath. Apart from conventional therapies, traditional Mauritian treatments are done. In this, natural local oils and fruits are used. For example, a blissful coconut husk body brush is followed by a deep massage with freshly ground coconut. In such an environment of treatment and relaxation, people find solace and a sense of relaxation.

Entertainment

Oberoi hotel has a natural maritime park with a coral reef where fascinating aquatic life prospers. There are some motorized and non-motorized water sports like snorkeling, sailing, water-skiing and pedal and glass bottom boats. There are winding paths and trails through the sub-tropical gardens that reach the villas and terrace pavilions.

 

Awards

The Conde Nast Traveler has given several awards to the Oberoi hotel. These include the ‘Best hotel in Asia’ (ranked 13th) in 2004, ‘Best Accommodation in Africa, Middle East and Indian Ocean’ in 2003 and ‘Best hotel in the World’ for rooms in Africa and Middle East in 2005.
