Mauritius Moka
Moka is a city in Mauritius. It happens to be the capital of the district of Moka. University of Mauritius and Mahatma Gandhi institute are two of the popular educational institutes here. There are three schools in Moka; they are Le Bocage International School, Ecole du centre and St.Mary Roman Catholic School. Apart from this other important institutions in Moka are:
1) Subramaniam bharti Eye Center. This is the only specialized eye hospital in the country.
2) Agricultural marketing board (AMB).
This sells vegetables to the consumers. Theses vegetables mainly consist of potatoes which are sold locally.
Moka is located in the center of Mauritius, and the experience of real estate development in Moka is increasing in the past few years. In Mauritius Telugu is been taught in 10 institutions. The Mauritius Andhra Maha Sabha (MAMS) had been established in 1947. MAMS had become a symbol of Telugu unity in all the 84 branches of Mauritius. Every MAMS Sabha has a Temple and has a hall/ centre for religious and cultural activities.
The official language is English. Along with English language French is also spoken by many people. The TV programs and English language movies are dubbed in French language. The language which is widely spoken is Creole. This sounds like French. Moka has people of many religions like Hindus, Catholics, Buddhists and Islam.
The famous town in Moka district is Quartier Militaire. Quartier- Militaire is a region of sugar cane fields which are quite less here as compared to the sugar cane fields found in other regions of Moka. The coolest temperature ever recorded here is six degree. The main attraction of Quartier Militaire is a stadium. It has a very big Hindu temple and has an Islamic cultural centre which is found only in the Moka district. There are many more old temples present here. The Quaritier Militaires town centre has a Royal plaza which is a very posh area. This area has two mosques and a church. It has big bus stations, post office and police station and many other facilities. In Quartier Militaires there are many health centers, football courts, night clubs, youth clubs, many apartments and industries as well.
